I grew up in Vancouver, Canada. As a kid I did modern dance, ballet, and played a lot of video games. I got bitten by the philosophy bug in high school when I read a one sentence description of Descartes' cogito in my 10th grade history textbook. I majored in philosophy and did eye-tracking experiments in a cognitive science lab while earning my B.A. at Simon Fraser University. I moved to Durham, NC for graduate school, where I decided it was high time I finally learned to play a musical instrument (other than the recorder) and took up the drums. When I'm not making a racket or doing philosophy, I enjoy hiking and taking hockey a wee bit too seriously.
